Our Nexus
Just starting....!
June 30th
July 4th! As Title Wave closes at 6 PM on July 4th, our next meeting is on July 11th!
All for now, dear readers.
June 16th
Departing player! We wish Andre Wilmar the best of luck back in his native Germany.
A very polite and giving young man, Andre gave two flags [one of Germany and the other from his state of Thuringia] to the players
who tied for second place this past Friday.
He will be missed!
All for now, dear readers.
June 2nd
Returning club players! Two players, one from several years ago and the other from the late 1980s,
attended our most recent meeting. Both Forrest and Parker have both grown so much that I could not recognise them!
All for now, dear readers.
May 6th
More club members leaving, now open, and next tournament! First, we wish Andre Wilmar the best of luck as he departs the local area next month. The same goes to Nathan Bordewick who departs for several months within
the next few weeks. Both will be missed!
Next, I am happy to report that Marty's Bagel & Deli has now opened! A much better selection of drinks and food are now
available for hungry players!
Finally, our next USCF-rated event starts this Friday. If interested in playing, this G/90 event will run over the next
three weeks.
Usual entry fee and start time of 7 P.M. are in effect.
All for now, dear readers.
April 29th
Club players coming and going! First, we wish Steven Bollinger the best of luck attending
school in Michigan. He will be missed!
Next, we were quite happy to have Don Brooks visit last Friday.
Don, up from Vermont on business, took time to swing by and we enjoyed catching up on news!
All for now, dear readers.
April 10th
Tournament results and club members! The Thunderbird Open is now rated!
See my main page for a link or go here!
Next, some news on two of our inactive members: Ram dropped by the club last week and said he is leaving Anchorage.
Shortly afterwards Eric Bohlen and his son dropped by! Eric donated some chess supplies to the club [a big thanks to him!]
and he expects to return to active play later this year. We look forward to his return!
Finally, long-time members will remember Michael Brooks from a few years ago. Now living in Vermont, "GM Mike" is working
hard with his father to promote chess locally.
Go here to see the new site for the Vermont Chess League.
All for now, dear readers.
April 8th
April tournament! Since many of our regular club members played in G/45 then G/60
Thunderbird Open last Saturday, our planned G/75 event is now set to start May 2nd.
So what do we offer for April? Well, our next USCF-rated event of the season is set for April 18th!
Event will be at G/25 maximum [Quick-play rated only], probably quads, $5 EF + USCF membership
[CASH ONLY and USCF membership renewals are not available on-site!], with the event starting at 7 PM.
Players are signed up when I receive their entry fee and verify USCF membership is in order.
Keep in mind that April's event will be likely limited to only eight players due to space limitations! So early registration is
to one's advantage!
All for now, dear readers.
All for now--NIMZO.
