ABOUT THE BUILDER:
I'm based in Alaska. The pride I take in my rod building is reflected in the fact I love three things: my family, building perfect fly rods, and fishing for huge Alaskan fish (guided fly fishing trips with JMB). One of my joys as a builder is having people tell me what a pleasure it is to fish with these rods; I spare no effort to make them outstanding.
ABOUT THE RODS:
Before I started building custom rods, I fished with Sage and Winston rods; they were and are the smoothest casting, most powerful rods I have ever used. When I did launch my own business, I had one goal: to make perfect flyrods-from the best blanks, components and workmanship possible. I have found that my customers agree with me, that Sage and Winston rod blanks are about as close to perfect as one can get. Now I can add top of the line components, the best that Struble, PacBay, and REC have to offer (See below for a general listing of guides, reel seats, and hook keep types I recommend; however you have the final say on how you want your custom rod constructed).
As to workmanship, I make all my rods by hand. Whatever color threads you choose, I wrap guides and ferrules for maximum strength and durability. Finally, I use the lightest, strongest clear coat finish possible for a well-balanced, beautiful rod.
HOOK KEEPER: Each rod has a spring loaded hook keeper and nickel silver winding check, unless otherwise specified.
EXTRA SELECT CORK GRIPS: I use the very best cork rings I can find and shape them myself; you can specify grip size and style.
REEL SEATS: I use Struble reel seats with nickel silver fittings, with wood color and pattern to complement the rod. All saltwater rods have Struble aluminum reel seats and stainless steel or titanium fittings.
ROD TUBES: Deep green powder-coated aluminum tubes with brass end caps, and custom made sock.
SNAKES AND STRIPPERS: Titanium snakes and strippers are used, including the tip top. You may choose oversized guides for smoother casting.
INSCRIPTION: Each rod has handwritten--the inscription of your choice, and the rod builder, type, weight, etc., to add that detailed custom crafted feature. Additionally, reel seat end caps (when no fighting butt is used) come engraved with your monogram; the tube end cap is also engraved with your monogram plus the weight/length of the rod.
JMB WARRANTY:
All rod blanks come with a manufacturer's warranty; in the case of Winston and Sage, this is an unconditional lifetime warranty. If a rod is damaged due to blank failure, JMB will repair or rebuild it at no charge. If damage to your rod is due to JMB workmanship, the rod will be restored at no charge. JMB will replace or repair, at a fee, any rods damaged as a result of modification, customization not done by JMB, misuse, neglect, or normal wear of a finished rod. JMB will give a complete estimate of charges before any work is done.

Jeff - just got back from NC this AM. Retrieved the rod from the Post Office in great shape. It's just beautiful. Set it up & tried it out & I think it will work great. Really surprised that it has such a strong feel. I didn't have the right weight line for it, but will fix that soon. Thanks for another work of art - Allan

Winston LT 9' 8wt 5pc, from esirianno, Jeff, the trip to Cabo was great. Caught a 30lb and a 22lb Yellow Fin tuna on the rod. Also caught several smaller fish while casting from shore including a couple of Jack Cravalle, Lady fish, and hooked but did not land a nice Rooster fish.
