Pam's Biography
|
Pam was born and raised in Oregon. She grew up in a little town in Northwestern Oregon called Dallas. Pam's only singing was with records and the radio. Her parents told her she couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. In her heart she new one day she'd be able to sing so she just kept trying, not letting anyone really hear her.
In her late 20's she went to work in Alaska at a fishing lodge. After that she
moved back to Oregon and then back to Alaska for 5 years, spending 2 1/2 yrs
in Thorne Bay on the Prince of Whales Island and 2 1/2 years in Juneau. Then
back to Oregon when her Father died in 1983.
She went to work tending bar at a place called Brockmans. She used to sing to
herself while the juke box was playing and one night the piano player at the
club asked her if she'd sing after hours. He said he liked what he heard and
wanted to hear what she sounded like on a microphone.
After learning a few songs she agreed to get up and sing on amateur night.
That was in 1986. She decided after getting a standing ovation with her rendition
of "The Tennessee Waltz" that maybe she could carry a tune in a bucket.
