Fishing Operations

Dear fellow angler, thank you for your interest in our fishing program. The Talkeetna area is unique among Alaska's top fishing spots, because 3 rivers converge here and it is centrally located among the lakes and streams that feed them.

The fishing is superb! We are on the shores of spawning homes of millions of fish: King, Silver, Red, Pink and Chum salmon, as well as trophy sized Rainbow Trout, Arctic Grayling and Dolly Varden.
We start our season June one with some fine fishing for Rainbow Trout , Grayling and Dolly Varden, and they all bite through September. We fish beautiful clearwater mountain streams. It is a fly fisherman's dream.
King Salmon arrive around June 15 and remain until mid-July.
The Red, Silver, Chum and Pink Salmon arrive in late July and stay through the first part
of September. This fish travel a hundred miles or more on they spawning runs. It is always
a thrill to walk around a bend in a stream and see a hole packed with huge fish.
We have two ways of fishing that suit the needs in budget of everyone: Fly-in, and Float
Fishing.
FLY-IN FISHING
Airplanes provide access to dozens of lakes and streams that would otherwise would be inaccessible. The scenery is magnificent on these flights and we will give you a secluded fishing. You can fly-in in a morning, fish all day, and fly-out in a evening. Or take advantage of our camps, and stay a few days. Cost - $350 per day, $ 1300 per four days, and $2000 per seven days.
FLY FISHING EXPEDITIONS
This is an excellent way for the adventurous fishermen to fish. With an experienced guide for every 2 guests, you will fly in to remote lake and float the outlet stream for great fishing, wildlife viewing and beautiful scenery through Alaska's uncrowded wilderness. You will also have time for hiking, photography and exploring. These trips cover several miles of fishing water and give you the mobility to go where fish are in places rarely fished. The price for a five-day trip is $ 1800. It can be lengthened to suit you at the rate of $300 per day. This includes your float plane transport, guide, food, rafts, and camping equipment.
Guests are generally expected to provide their own tackle and lures. We have a rental and sales service that will make equipment available to guests at cost.
WHAT TO BRING
Rods and Reels : For
King
Salmon you want a heavyweight spinning rod and reel capable
&
nbsp; of
handling 30LB test line, or a 10 wt. fly rod. For other species of Salmon you
&
nbsp; want
a spinning rod capable of handling 15-20LB test line. For trout and
&
nbsp; grayling
a medium wt. spinning rod with 10-12 LB test line or a 7 wt. fly rod is
&
nbsp; good.
Waders: Neoprene chest
waders with felt soles are best for fly-fishing. Good quality hip
&
nbsp; waders
also very useful.
Sleeping bag: Fiber
filled bags of compact size are good for float trips. They should be
&
nbsp; comfortable
to 40 F.
Shirts and trousers:
Medium weight flannel or cotton shirts and loose fitting trousers are
&
nbsp; good.
Rain gear: Two-piece,
loose fitting and top quality. I prefer unlined, coated nylon. 3/4
&
nbsp; length
rain coats work well with hip boots.
Miscellaneous items:
Lightweight gloves, waterproof hat, insect repellent, binoculars,
&
nbsp; camera,
lightweight jacket. It is best to think in terms of layers when dressing.
