You are joining a group of
caring individuals who are making dark days brighter for children in
difficult situations. There is nothing that will tear at one's
heartstrings more than seeing the eyes of a child in crisis. They may be
scared or in pain, wondering what's going to happen to them next, or
even thinking that the crisis was somehow their fault. Named after the
blanket-toting character in Charles Schultz's Peanuts comic
strip, the mission of Project Linus is to provide love, a sense of
security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill,
traumatized or otherwise in need, through the gifts of new, homemade,
washable blankets and afghans, lovingly crafted by volunteer blanketeers. The Alaska Chapter was started in May 2006 by Michelle Hoyt. She currently lives in Palmer, Alaska and was born and raised there. She does a lot of crafts and quilting in her free time and runs after her sons, Owen & Ethan. Michelle became involved in Project Linus because she was once touched by a blanket that she received for her late daughter. She wanted to be involved in an organization would bring so much cheer to others in such a dark time. With all of her quilting abilities she felt she had so much to give.
