Children’s Messages
Previous
notes:
Erika
Rolf has volunteered to organize children’s messages. She
would give the message one Sunday a month and prep others to fill in on
remaining Sundays.
Coordinate
with Worship Task Group to get the children’s message regularly scheduled in the bulletin.
New
notes:
Suggested
that children’s messages could/should be
based off worship service readings each Sunday.
[Found
out from Jess that Erika’s class on giving
children’s messages was very
successful. The senior high youth came
up with terrific ideas on ways to present lessons to the children and seemed
willing to consider giving a children’s
message. Rebecca Pfennig will be giving
the children‘s message on April 22nd
Youth Sunday.]
Children Singing
Previous
notes:
Bring
back the Sunday School opening music.
Coordinate
with Worship Task Group to schedule the children to sing during Sunday service
at least 4 times a year.
New
notes:
Need
to start seeking people who would be interested in getting this started up
again. One option would be to have a
rotation of people if needed.
Youth Participation
in Church Services
Previous
notes:
Includes
the following tasks:
Reading
the 1st and 2nd lessons
Ushering
Special
music
Greeting
Operate
sound booth
New
notes:
Sound
Booth: Further discussed having youth help Aaron and Andria with the sound
booth on Sundays. Perhaps have a
workshop to show them what needs to be done and discuss how early to show up on
Sunday to get things set up. Get this
added to “Serving this Sunday” list.
VBS: See if youth are interested in helping with
VBS. Come up with a list of tasks
(helping with games, teacher aide) that youth could sign up to help with, even
if just for a day.
Church
Field: It has been discussed to have the
youth be responsible for maintaining the church field. This could be a responsibility that they
could own and pass along to incoming youth, to keep it going. Matt Coburn has already been asked and has
agreed to maintain the field this summer.
Scott and Tim will make sure the lawn mower is serviced and in working
condition.
Youth Sunday
Previous
notes:
Every 5th Sunday of the month.
Pastor/Worship
Task Group facilitated.
Planned
during Sunday School and/or FISH.
New
notes:
April
22nd is a Youth Sunday. Jess
is the current facilitator of Youth Sunday and has youth doing special music,
leading music and doing the Old and New Testament readings. Jess said if there were other things we would
like to see happen, let her know.
Ushering and greeting are two other responsibilities that youth could be
involved with on Youth Sundays.
ORLC Website
Previous
notes:
Discussion
on making a youth activity calendar and message board available on-line. Possibly through the church
website and/or Family Fellowship website.
New
notes:
Jaye
is in the process of updating the ORLC website and setting up links/folders for
the various committees and task groups.
Discussed audio recording the worship services and
downloading them to the website, for people that are unable to make the Sunday
service. Operating the recorder would be another way
in which to get the youth involved in the service.
Tim and Jaye have agreed to present the youth involvement task group
issues at the meeting on Saturday, May 19th.
