Read about trans-fats and biodiesel in the Alaska Star Local Oil Collection and Pickup
Restaurants: Alaska Mill and Feed is the major company in Southcentral Alaska that collects used cooking oils. But, there are some small biodiesel, SVO and veggie blend folks that will pick up your used cooking oil for free! In general free oil collection requires non-hydrogenated canola or soybean oil (NO 'CREAMY' fryer oil) that is liquid at room temperature, that has not been overly used or burned, with no water in it. Usually the used oil is cooled overnight and then poured back into the 5 gallon cubes for pick up. Biofuel folks: Alaska Mill and Feed sells 55 gallon drums of 10 micron filtered and dewatered used cooking oil with 24 hour notice, ask for Mark Goodman.
** If you are interested in free pickup of your gently used fryer oil ** or if you are a local biodiesel enthusiast and would like to connect with a restaurant that has requested a pickup please email will@alaskabiodiesel.org |
